Design & Technology

This practical and valuable subject provides opportunities for students to develop design ideas and skills with knowledge and understanding to make quality products.

Students focus on specific aspects of the subject such as engineering, electronics, product design, food technology, systems and control and textiles and graphics.  Students learn to design and develop products that solve relevant and genuine issues taking into consideration the needs and wants of the consumer.  This subject requires the use of knowledge from additional subjects such as science, mathematics and art.  It encourages students to take risks and contribute ideas that are innovative and resourceful.  Students develop an understanding of how design and technology impacts daily life and provides an opportunity to develop and apply valued judgements in their own design and development as well as others.
