Digital Technology at School
Ensuring that your child has the right set of tools to safely, confidently, and nimbly use digital technologies to deepen their understanding of God, the world, and themselves, is part of Horizon Christian School’s digital technologies vision.
To assist your child in their learning, Horizon is constantly making improvements to our network, software offerings, and safety protocols to ensure they have the best set of tools for their education.
In Primary School (Foundation to Year 6), we provide one to one devices that are used at key moments throughout the year to teach students about safe device use and how to engage effectively and positively in a digital environment.
In Middle School (Years 7 to 9), students are required to participate in the Rent-to-Buy Program which splits the cost of their device over 3 years as part of their school fees and gives them 3 years of warranty including accidental damage. This gives our students equitable access to a device throughout Middle School which enables them to grow in their knowledge and understanding of how to use digital technology safely, confidently, and nimbly.
In Senior School (Years 10 to 12), students have the option of continuing to use their Middle School device, bringing their own device from home, or discussing an upgraded Rent-to-Buy device option with Horizon Christian School. If students are interested in completing digital media, graphic design or programming we recommend discussing the options with our IT team before purchasing a device for Senior School.
